Abstract

This is the field of genomics, or digital health, or artificial intelligence in medicine and that will cover the essential aspects of computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, system biology and data mining that are relevant to modern medicine We discussed the paradigm shift in biomedicine. It used to be a hypothesis-driven enterprise, and it increasingly becomes a data-driven one. We realized that biological organisms can be better characterized by their genotypic properties, including the sequence of their DNA or proteins. The field has gained great importance for a wide range of archeological, anthropological, agricultural, epidemiological and clinical applications. Artificial intelligence has made role-based analysis and interpretation important of medical images that are better than that done by radiologists, pathologists, and other physicians. This is a relatively new scientific discipline in medicine. It is called systems biology. The approach is to study the inter-relations between components of a system. These components could be anything: genes, proteins, regulatory elements. The main promise of personalized medicine is hinged on the assumption that variations in the genomic data, in the non-genomic data, between humans, affect significantly the person's disease and health.
