Abstract

Abstract: A regular machining process can be challenging when it comes to mould finishing in critical areas. Since EDM machining can be used to remove excess material from complex moulds, the value of research remains high. It is possible to reduce the costing of graphite coated light materials because graphite gives a higher finish than other electrode materials.  As electrodes for EDM, graphite coated polymer and ceramic substances are used to finish mould criteria. The wet electrodes were transferred to regular aluminium moulds after electrolyte-based graphite particle deposition method for drying and achieving the desired shape as part of the work. The best EDM parameters for mould finishing have been determined using L16 Taguchi optimal DOE. A graphite layer 0.8mm thick was applied to HDPE and aluminium substances for testing at different voltages, currents, and pulses. In comparison with aluminum graphite electrodes, graphite coated copper tip polymer electrodes yielded better results.
