SELF HELP GROUPS AND ITS ROLE IN EMPOWERING WOMEN: AN ANALYSIS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO ASSAM

Abstract

Women are vital parts of each economy. Privation is the principal deterrent for the improvement of the Women. The job of women and the need to enable them are integral to human improvement programs including neediness easing. Monetary strengthening of women in a country brings about their capacity to impact or settle on choice, expanded self-assurance, better status and role in family unit and so forth. The arrangement of SHGs isn't conclusively a miniaturized scale credit venture however a strengthening procedure.

In this proposed study an attempt has been made to discuss the role of SHGs in empowering women basically in Assam. The researchers also try to focus various hurdles which are generally faced by poor women in the process of their empowerment. Some policy prescriptions will also be discussed to overcome these hurdles and to make women self sufficient.
