ADVANCED SECURE VOTING SYSTEM USING IOT

Abstract

Elections are fundamental defining characteristicsof democracy,wherepeopleexpresstheirarticulateopinions/choices through voting. However, the turnout of citizens for votingduring the Elections is substantially minimal due to multitudinous rea- sons. In spite of such colossal advancements in various fields like Internet of Things(IOT), Cloud computing, Embedded systems, Mobile communication, Image processing  and  Biometrics,  itis realized that the current voting system in India is really outdated, vulnerable and inefficient. This paper proposes atechnical idea to develop an Aadhar and Microcontroller based online voting environment, which facilitates voting distant from voter’s respective hometown. Multiple stages of authentication isincorporated with powerful biometrics like Fingerprint sensors and Facial recognition system, in which voter’s biometrics will be comparedwiththepre-registereddatastoredinAadhardatabase. GSMisusedforprovidingsuccessfulvotingacknowledgementvia SMS and GPRS for transmitting data to designated server. Latest cloud computing technology like Amazon Web Service (AWS) is usedforonlineresultsstorageanddisplay.Physicalsecurityofthe voter is further enhanced by implementing ‘Advanced Security Surveillance using Raspberry Pi’, which will notify the respective authorities regarding Misconduct/Emergency sending live snap- shots of polling booth via Gmail. This endeavour diminishes work and makes our system exceedingly efficient, secure, reliable,and realtimeimplementablewithslightmodifications.
